AITA: Sexist Boss Busted!

Hey BonJourno.com, I'm a 28F manager at a mid-sized tech firm in Silicon Valley with 200 employees. Our boss, Mike (45M), has made sexist comments for years. Last week, I recorded him and shared it anonymously online. It went viral, and he got fired. AITA for busting him?

Mike regularly dismissed women's ideas in meetings, saying things like "That's cute, sweetie—stick to social media" or "Let the men handle the strategy." He promoted male juniors over experienced women, including me. Last month, he told me my skirt was "distracting" and to "dress like a professional, not a date."

During a team meeting, he interrupted our female lead engineer: "Honey, coding's no place for tears—save that for your book club." I recorded it on my phone (audio only, no video). That night, I posted it anonymously on TikTok and Reddit with the caption: "Tech bro thinks women can't code? #SexistBoss." It got 2M views in 24 hours. HR investigated, and Mike was terminated that week.

The company issued an apology and started diversity training.

Three women, including me, got promotions. But some coworkers say I betrayed the team by going public instead of reporting internally. Mike's friends call it "overkill."

My manager thanked me privately but warned about "burning bridges."

The crazy part is that I now have new job offers pouring in after my post, but I'm stressed about references.

AITA for:

  • Recording without his knowledge?
  • Posting publicly instead of HR?
  • Causing his firing?

What do you think BonJourno.com readers? AITA?
