What is BonJourno?
BonJourno is a social publishing platform that caters to creators who provide news and information to their audiences in the form of articles, podcasts, or videos. In some ways, BonJourno is like Medium, except our users can read any articles we host, free-of-charge. In other ways, we are like Reddit or Quora because we host groups and Q&A forums. When you think of "BonJourno" think of "Good Journalism" that is free to read, independent of elite influence, and devoid of pay-walls.

BonJourno is a social network for independent journalists and creators who provide news and information in the form of articles, podcasts and videos.  In some ways BonJourno is a long form version of Twitter.  In other ways, BonJourno is like Medium, without the paywalls. We have also been compared to Quora, Reddit and Spotify.

On BonJourno you can write, post, and share articles from your profile to your subscribers (and share the link on social media) without any editorial interference. Like Medium, blogs and opinion are welcome.

When you upload news, you will see that you also have the option to broadcast your content site-wide to all BonJourno users.

Because anyone can share to everyone on the network, and then share the link on other social media platforms like Twitter and Linked-in, we call the site "decentralized" but "democratized" might be a better word.

To limit bias, we are running a pilot with a US non-profit called "The Decentralized Press" who will provide editorial to anonymous users. So, when you choose to post as the Decentralized Press, you are effectively donating your article to a non-profit news agency who has no ability to track who you are or where you are located.

In other words, if you submit an article to the Decentralized Press from your personal profile, it is not technologically possible to track your identity, as far as we know. Technologically, the data history is not stored.  We hope this will inspire users to write important articles exposing fraud and corruption.

We believe the deterioration of investigative journalism at the local level has coincided with the deterioration of local government. We also hope it will inspire disclosures related to other uncomfortable topics confronting civilization, like UFO cases.

One downside of using the Decentralized Press, is that once you submit you cannot re-edit the article, as you will no longer have access to it.  Another downside is that you will not be notified or know why it was declined, since we have no way to contact you. The good news is you are free to post your article elsewhere.

If you choose to broadcast your article, the Decentralized Press will review your article and attempt to remove biases, spelling errors, grammatical errors, sentence structure errors, and obvious promotional material. DP might add alternate viewpoints, additional quotes, photos, or layout changes in order to feel confident that the article is high quality and useable on aggregators like Apple News.

Because anyone can upload news or information, and a third party controls a substantial portion of the content flow, we say that BonJourno is "decentralized".  But, we are not entirely decentralized because we do privilege some news.  For example, BonJourno members who have verified profiles are generally privileged.  In other words, if you want your editor to promote your article, it helps to have filled-out your profile properly, including education and experiences.  This is key to preventing disinformation.

Finally, it helps if you use facts and direct quotes that are referenced in the 'editor notes' section of the article, which is a direct communication to your editor where you can write "JFK said this at 3:56 in this video".

Your article is more likely to reach our main page if it limits opinion, and remains objective.  So, unless your piece is labeled "Blog" or "Opinion" you should remain as unbiased as possible to increase your chances of getting your content promoted.

In instances where your profile data is not filled out and the information can not be verified, we have a red, yellow and green rating system to cue readers about whether or not the information seems accurate. If the information is valuable but unverifiable, your editor may post it with a yellow or red warning.

When an article is not written like objective news, or is not verifiable, but still valuable or interesting to our readers, your editor might switch your piece to the Announcement, Petition, Blog, Humor, Tabloid or Open Letter category. These categories generally go unverified and are treated like a piece of creative writing.

If you find BonJourno news to be biased on a particular topic, please post your opposing viewpoint so that our readers can get diverse viewpoints.  If we are not presenting all sides, it is likely because our users are only submitting content on one side of the issue.

Unlike most social media sites controlled by media empires, banks, or multinational conglomerates, BonJourno is financed by token holders.  We hope this keeps us independent of elite control.  Thus, as our network grows, so should the value of our token (all other variables being equal). If you support independent thought, please share our news in your social networks.
